Dear Colleague:
Welcome to UNLV and congratulations on your new position at one of the fastest growing urban universities!
As Chair of the Professional Staff Committee, I would like to extend an extra welcome to you on behalf of the Administrative Faculty and Faculty Senate. In addition, I would like to highlight some of the benefits and opportunities available to you and encourage you to become more involved in the campus community.
The Professional Staff Committee is a standing committee of the Faculty Senate, which reviews and recommends policy on such issues as, merit and compensation for Professional Staff, faculty senate representation for Professional Staff, the orientation of new Professional Staff, and the general communication among all Professional Staff members. Further, the Professional Staff Committee serves to communicate professional staff initiatives and concerns, of both a general and unit specific nature to the Faculty Senate.
As you become more familiar and comfortable at UNLV, I am certain you will see how these issues impact you and your position. More importantly, I hope that you take advantage of the many opportunities to become a more active and involved member of the professional staff, not only to improve the campus community, but to contribute to your own professional development and growth.
